Phialodes rufipennis

I love seeing these bright red leaf-rolling weevils (otoshibumi), even though I know that they are destructive pests. This one was extremely tame and didn’t try to fly or fall off the leaf. I watched it eating the leaf, cutting small holes with remarkable speed. It’s mouth is at the end of the “nose” (rostrum), which never seems to be quite right!
